F1 RE
Retreat Day
|
Our RE Retreat Day was about Gathering. We gathered together and sang a song called, ‘Gather Together’ then in small groups we painted our self-portraits. Frances then collected our self-portraits on a big display and we talked about the verse from the bible which says “When two or three gather, I am there with them” Matthew 18: 20. Then we sang our ‘Gather Together’ song again and said a prayer. |
Growing
We planted our own seeds to begin our RE topic then we talked about how we care for and look after our friends. We gave our friends some lovely hugs.
Have a look at our thoughts and ideas of how we can care for one another. We talked about the cross and how Jesus died on the cross because he loves us. We tasted hot cross buns and talked about what they mean – they have a cross on top which is why we can only hot cross buns around Easter time. Some of us thought of some words to describe the hot cross buns. “scrumptious” Ebu “Tasty” Kai “Delicious” Esther “I like it” Joanna |
For our RE topic we have talked about Growing. This means new life including animals, plants and people and also growing in love. Spring is a time for new life and Lent is a time for growing in love.
Year 1 gave us an Easter Garden that one of the children had made as part of their homework. We think our Easter Garden is wonderful and we have put it on our prayer table.
Thank you Year 1! |

Our Nativity Play
For our Christmas Nativity, we retold the story of Jesus’ birth. We learned lots of new songs for our Nativity and had to remember when to stand up and sit down.
On the day, we were fantastic! Everybody was really proud of us for doing such a brilliant job. We hope you enjoy looking at our pictures. |

F1 Retreat Day
We have loved having Frances, our School Chaplain visiting Nursery.
Frances spends some of our RE time with us. We were really lucky to have Frances spend a whole day with us at the end of our ‘Welcome’ topic. This was called our ‘F1 Retreat Day’. Frances led our Liturgy and we had a good go at drawing our own pictures of a Baptism. We loved singing, dancing and sharing our work. We learned lots of news words, such as, font, Baptism, Priest, holy water and God-Parents. Were you Baptised? You could share your own Baptism story with your child. |
