Year 5 Art
Propaganda Posters
As part of our work on the First World War we studied propaganda posters and looked at how these were used to encourage people to join the war effort. We looked at different examples of posters and evaluated their effectiveness to help us design our own posters, based on a theme of our choice from the war. We then used mixed media to create our posters which are displayed on our classroom windows if you'd like to come and have a closer look!
Flanimals
We created our own Flanimal characters from clay after finding out about the Flanimal Kingdom created by Ricky Gervais.
First we tested out different ways to mark and mould clay such as rolling, pinching and making marks with tools. We also thought about how we might join pieces of clay and how to strengthen our structures and support heavy parts. For example, by using cocktail sticks to support the head and help attach it to the body. We think they look good so far and are looking forward to painting them soon. |

They're not just models either! We've been writing about our Flanimal species so you can also find out about each Flanimal's habitat and behaviour if you'd like. Just ask any of the children in Year Five and they'll tell you all about their fantastic creations!
Look at our fantastic flanimal kingdom outside our classroom complete with
models and each flanimals detailed information page....
